Expert Pitch

James Randerson, Chancellor's Professor of Earth System Science at the University of California, Irvine, is a senior researcher on the impact of climate change on the ecology, particularly with regard to wildfires in important forest ecosystems. He was a senior author on a recent paper on using machine learning to predict the size of wildfires. Randerson was also a senior author on a recent UCI study on the projected spread of Valley fever as climate change makes the U.S. west hotter and drier over the next several decades. He can be reached at (949) 824-9030 and jranders@uci.edu.

Randerson is but one of many climate experts at UCI. If you'd like to be connected with him or others here, please call or email Brian Bell, (949) 824-8249 or bbpbell@uci.edu.
